WATCH: Redesigned Sonic the Hedgehog looks much better in new movie trailer

Several months back, Paramount Pictures debuted the first trailer for their movie adaptation of Sonic The Hedgehog and at the time, the titular character looked horrible to the point where there was an enormous amount of backlash from fans. They weren't wrong, by the way. The early cgi Sonic had eyes that spaced much too far apart, strange looking teeth, and just an overall look that many saw as creepy. Thankfully, the execs over at Paramount not only heard the criticism, they actually acted on it!

The results of all the hard redesign work are pretty obvious in the best possible way, especially if you watch the new trailer above then the comparison with the original movie trailer below. Ben Schwartz (Jean Raphio from Parks & Rec) voices the titular hedgehog and from what I can hear, he seems to be an excellent fit for the role.

What do you think? Does the new Sonic the Hedgehog look better than the initial version? I think he's a MASSIVE improvement... especially the way they fixed the eyes and teeth!

Sonic The Hedgehog hits theaters February 14th, 2020.
