Fortnite is the most popular free game in the world right now, and their marketing has been near perfect. 2 months ago they had everyone wondering where in their virtual world was the meteor going to hit, and what did it mean for the game?
Right after that they had an ingenious marketing tie in with Marvel that allowed you to play as Thanos from Avengers Infinity War?
So, with those 2 amazing examples of marketing, how could they even get it better for a 3rd time? By implementing aspects of the game into real life.
This is what happened this past week in a desert in California. Follow along.
Last week a rocket launched from a villains lair in the game, that rocket launch had several affects in the game, such as the one below. A sign from the fast food joint Durrr Burger all of a sudden vanished.
But what came as a shock to everyone was that the burger from the Durrr Burger sign, popped up in of all places a desert in California. Photographer Sela Shiloni discovered the missing burger.
Haters said it was photo-shopped. Sela replied with video.
But wait, there's more. A tent was also in this "middle of nowhere desert." In addition to a tent there was a man claiming to be a "secret agent" handing out business cards.
And when you call that phone number it makes the same sounds that you hear at certain points in the game. Go ahead, try it.
As well as a police car, an 1980's vintage police car, you guessed it......also from Fortnite. Soon other people began to flock to the location.
