Music Monday 10/23

I wanted to start a blog that hi-lights new music on a weekly basis, so welcome to my first #MusicMonday blog! Sometimes the songs I feature on this blog will be on our playlist at Hot1079, sometimes they won't.

These are songs that I'm feeling right now, and want to share them with you. I find myself often liking songs that we never play, and I wanted you to know some of the songs I am feeling, even if I can't play them on the radio.

So here we go!

1. "Let You Down" - NF

I am in love with this song, NF aka Nathan "Nate" John Feuerstein is actually a Christian musician which explains why that there was no need for an edited version of this song. In my mind he sounds like Eminem, but also has some singing ability when it comes to the chorus. I expect this one to be a big fall and winter time hit. We are currently playing this on Hot1079.

2. "Silence" Marshmello ft. Khalid

I have been a fan of Marshmello for a bit now, ever since his song "Alone" broke through he has been on the cusp of breaking into pop mainstream, he just needed the right song. This very well could be the song to do that. He has teamed up with Khalid (who lived in Watertown as a teen) , who's soothing signature voice is featured on the hit "1-800" by Logic. Both of these artists are ready to break into the mainstream and in a few months this is a song that could be all over Hot1079, in fact we have already played it a few times. I love the lyrics ("I rather be a lover than a fighter, cuz all my life I've been fighting.") , I love the drop, and I love this video.

3.  "Carry You Home"- Tiesto ft. Stargate and Aloe Blacc

This song reminds me of "Wake Me Up" the monster hit from Avicii which made Aloe Blacc a household name. Aloe hasn't had much since (unless you count his M&M's commercial) and Tiesto while being one of the most influential and successful EDM DJ's has never had a mainstream hit like David Guetta, Calvin Harris, or Avicii. Maybe this is the one that gets him there. The lyrics are positive and happy with this, and that drop is pretty great.

4. "Deserve"- Kris Wu ft. Travis Scott

Who is Kris Wu? I asked myself that question when I first heard this song. Let me save you a Google search. Kris Wu is a former Chinese Canadian actor, and former member of the South Korean Chinese boy band EXO and EXO-M. He's also starred in some of the highest grossing  Chinese films of all time. He made his American film debut in  xXx: Return of Xander Cage.  Wu teams up with Travis Scott in this track, who is one of the hottest artists in hip hop right now. This song is smooth, chill, and has a deep bass line. This songs like a song you'd hear from Zayn, or Chris Brown, but the team of Kris Wu and Travis Scott delivers.
