A proposal by the New York State of Transportation will radically affect how Onondaga Lake Parkway would look. The State wants to reduce the number of lanes on the Parkway from its current four lanes down to two lanes.
According to officials, the reduction in lanes will decrease the number of accidents that occur on the highway. They also hope that the new lane alignment will prevent many of the accidents that occur when tall trucks hit the low railroad bridge spanning the Parkway.
There is speculation that the DOT wants to make the highway a smaller and slower road to deter trucks from using it. So what do you think? Is this a good idea or not? Let me know!
