Students Are Having A Hard Time Getting Up In The AM!

posted by Justin The Web Guy -

The results are in! Too many students are hitting the “snooze” button! At least according to a survey conducted by the Liverpool Central School District.

The study found that of the students who took the survey, 20 percent of middle school students and 15 percent of high school students ended up being late for school in September because they overslept. Additionally, 9 percent of middle school students and 12 percent of high school students said they missed at least one day of school during that time period because they were too tired to get up.

Superintendent Mark Potter isn’t surprised by these numbers, but the solution isn’t quite as obvious. One possible solution would be to start and end the school day later, but that would cause a disruption for parents on work schedules, athletics, and after school care. Additional discussions for possible solutions will continue later this fall. The results of the survey will be posted on liverpool.k12.ny.us in the near future.
