So who are we to believe? According to the newest edition of the Farmers’ Almanac, Central New York will see a colder and snowier than average winter this coming season. This is in contrast to the Climate Prediction Center’s (CPC) prediction for a warmer than average winter for our area due to a strong El Niño that is predicted to set up. The CPC is the long range forecasting arm of the National Weather Service.
The Farmers’ Almanac bases it’s forecast on a 200 year old secret created by the first editor. The “secret” is know by only one anonymous person who goes by the name of “Caleb Weatherbee.” That’s very interesting! The Climate Prediction Center uses scientific methods to make its prediction.
According to the Farmers’ Almanac, Central and Northern New England will see “above normal snowfalls, particularly in January and February.” Well, dueling forecasts! Bring it on!
