No matter how Syracuse University quarterback Rex Culpepper’s season goes this fall, he is already a winner! Rex has beaten cancer! Rex told reporters at a news conference last Friday that “Cancer’s in the rearview mirror, I’m 100% cured.”
Culpepper beat testicular cancer 3 months after the initial diagnosis. Rex compared the feeling of beating the disease to beating Clemson. “You feel so incredibly accomplished,” he told reporters. As a result, Rex will be on the field when training camp opens on August 1st, and will be ready for action when Syracuse takes the field against Western Michigan on August 31st.
Rex is grateful for the support he had gotten from the Syracuse community, and he hopes his successful fight against the disease will be an inspiration to someone else struggling to beat cancer. “This is about someone else that I don’t even know who’s going to hear about this and this is going to help them, “ Rex said. Congratulations, Rex! You are already a winner!
