Sam and Dorothy Harris of Wentzville, Missouri, woke up the other day to find a disturbing sight. One of their cows had wandered near a pond next to their house and had sunk in some mud up to its shoulders.
The Wentzville Fire Protection District send a crew to the Harris’ house to rescue the cow, which also happened to be pregnant. The crew arrived at 7:45 AM and attempted to pull the cow to safety by tying a rope around the animal. Eventually, a neighbor arrived with a backhoe and was able to carve a path out so the cow could climb out of the thick mud.
All ended well though. After about an hour and a half, the cow was able to reach solid ground. After the ordeal, the cow was back in its pasture peacefully grazing on some grass. Congratulations to all the rescuers on a job well done!
