Some Interesting Facts About The Comic Strip "Peanuts"

I’ll admit it. I like to read the comic section of the newspaper. Sometimes I find a comic strip to be very funny, and sometimes I don’t. But I always love to read “Peanuts.” Charlie Brown and Company always gives me a chuckle. The late, great Charles Schultz always delivered, especially when it came to Charlie Brown’s pet beagle, Snoopy.

I came across some interesting facts about the great comic strip and I thought I would share them with you. So here they are:

1. Charlie Brown was modeled after Charles Schultz himself!

2. Charles Schultz didn’t come up with the name “Peanuts.” United Feature Syndicate, the publishing company, change the name from Schultz’s “Li’l Folks” to “Peanuts.” Schultz himself wasn’t overly fond of the new name!

3. Snoopy has five siblings: Spike, Marbles, Olaf, Andy, and a sister named Belle.

4. There were 45 “Peanuts” tv specials led by the Emmy winning “A Charlie Brown Christmas” which debuted in 1965.

5. There are 17, 897 “Peanuts” comic strips. They ran from 1950 until 2000 when Schulz, 77, died from colon cancer.

Interesting stuff about a classic comic strip!
