Psychologically, Christmas Music Is Actually Good For You!

So it’s Christmas time and every store you go into is playing Christmas music, right? I’m sure you have heard from the Scrooge’s how much they hate so much holiday music invading their space. So, is too much Christmas music bad for you?

Well according to recent research done at McGill University, upbeat, happy Christmas music is actually good for you! That’s right, Ebenezer, happy music is good for you! That includes Christmas music! According to studies, upbeat music is beneficial in both a psychological and physical way. The “felt emotions” we perceive can impact our emotional state.

As a result, music, and Christmas music in particular, has a strong tie to nostalgia. So when we hear an upbeat Christmas song, many of us can tie it back to a memory from our past! In other words, it’s not the song itself that makes us happy, it’s the memories associated with it!

So lighten up, Mr. Grinch, enjoy the music! Let the “hatred” for the songs be banished from your heart. You never know, you just might find yourself -gasp!- singing along!!
