The New York City Metropolitan Transportation Authority is giving its riders a glimpse of days-gone-by by putting into service a vintage 1932 r-1 train complete with rattan seats and ceiling fans! The vintage train will run in Manhattan and operate on Sundays till the end of the year.
The train will also feature decorations and ads from its time in service from 1932 until 1977. That in itself would be interesting to see!
Riders are excited to see and board the vintage train. Subway rider James Elliot summed up the experience by saying, “The lighting, the seats, the whole experience. It’s like a living, breathing thing.” Sounds good to me too, James!
