Scrabble fans can rejoice! The popular game has added 300 new words to its dictionary. The new words represent modifications of existing words, non-English words, and slang words that have become commonplace in today’s vocabulary.
One of the new words to join the list was the word “ew” which is used to show disgust. “OK” was added to the list after being denied for many years because of its capitalization. “Frowny” returned to the list after being removed in 1961. This will give players a chance to use the very valuable letter “Y.” Other words added were “bestie” and “twerk.”
“It means that in some ways the whole game is thrown open and made anew,” said Emily Brewster, an associate editor for Merriam-Webster. We can’t argue with that! Have fun Scrabble lovers!
