Ok. I must admit I’m not sure why I read this article, much less decided to blog about it, but I’ll do it anyway. According to research that was reported in the journal, “Open Science,” it seems that goats, yes goats, are more drawn to people who look happy.
Researcher Dr. Carine Savalli Redigolo of the Federal University of São Paulo, set goats free in a test area where they could interact with two black and white photos of human faces at goat eye level: one happy and one angry. Savalli Redigolo found the the goats preferred the happy human face.
The result suggests that goats have the ability to read human facial expressions. Savalli Redigolo suggests that these findings “should raise discussions on how we manage and treat these animals.” Ok I guess I can buy that! Interesting stuff, huh?
