Visitors to a South Carolina beach were stunned to see a water spout make landfall and become a mini tornado! The event occurred on July 23rd at Myrtle Beach as people were enjoying themselves on the beach.
The waterspout transitioned from the water to the shore as towels, chairs, and umbrellas went flying into the air! Lifeguards worked to make sure people got out of the water as the waterspout headed towards the beach.
The National Weather Service said the waterspout became an EF-0 tornado as winds reached a speed of just under 65 miles per hour. Fortunately, the waterspout/tornado dissipated after traveling less than 100 yards inland. No one was hurt, but they left the beach with quite a story to tell family and friends!
