A Local Teacher From Charlotte Is Going To Be On Ellen TODAY!

I just got wind that a local teacher from the Charlotte area is going to be on Ellen this afternoon, and presented with a check for $100,000.

Astrid Emily Francis teaches at W.M. Irvin Elementary, one of two ESL (English as a second language) teachers. She came from Guatamala when she was only 15 years old. She only had a 6th grade education, and has inspired so many students to be their best.

Her fun and bubbly atmosphere really caught Ellen's attention. All of her students got to be on the show as well.

"Thank you for teaching me to speak English Mrs. Francis" came from one of the students at the school on tv.

To cap it all off, the owner of Chobani, also an immigrant who barely knew how to speak English at one point, awarded her a $100,000 check to put towards her efforts.

The actual clip is already online. Check it out! Emily inspires us all to be incredible people, and pay it forward with what she has done to help her students. CONGRATS!
