A winter weather advisory is in effect today for residents of Oswego and Oneida counties. The advisory will remain until 7 a.m. tomorrow, with snow accumulations potentially reaching up to nine inches in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service, Oswego and Lewis counties are expected to experience the heaviest snowfall, with accumulations ranging from five to nine inches. The snow will begin late Tuesday and continue through early Thursday morning. Oneida County is also under advisory, with forecasts predicting snow totals between four and eight inches.

The weather service explained that a clipper system will bring widespread snow tonight into Wednesday morning, followed by snow showers as a cold front approaches. Lake effect snow showers are expected to develop behind the front on Wednesday evening and continue into the overnight hours.

In addition, a hazardous weather outlook has been issued for the rest of Central New York, including Syracuse, where snowfall amounts are expected to be lighter, ranging from one to three inches. For the latest updates and forecasts, listen to NewsRadio 570 WSYR.
