Central New York residents are being urged to prepare for a storm expected to bring significant rainfall and strong winds today (October 30). Forecasters predict rain will continue throughout the day and into tomorrow, with some areas potentially receiving up to two inches of precipitation. According to WSYR-TV, the rain is not expected to cause widespread flooding due to the dry conditions experienced since summer.

The storm, driven by a low-pressure system, is also expected to bring gusty winds. Winds in Syracuse could exceed 30 mph, adding a chill to the air for Halloween trick-or-treaters. JustinWeather.com reports that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has issued a 'Marginal Risk' for storms to turn severe due to strong winds at higher altitudes.

Additionally, there is a possibility of the rain transitioning to wet snow in higher elevations north of Syracuse by Friday night, potentially leading to a few inches of snow accumulation by Saturday morning. This weather pattern marks the end of a rare stretch of dry, sunny days in late October for the region.
