Oswego County residents are gearing up for a significant winter storm expected to hit the area. A Lake Effect Snow Warning is in effect from 7 p.m. tonight until 7 p.m. Friday (December 13). Forecasters predict that some areas could receive up to three feet of snow during this period.

The National Weather Service warns that travel conditions will be challenging, if not impossible, at times. Residents are advised to stay off the roads to ensure their safety. The storm is expected to bring heavy snow, with winds gusting up to 35 mph, leading to blowing and drifting snow. This could result in rapidly changing road conditions and poor visibility.

According to Syracuse.com, the weather service advises drivers to be cautious of icy conditions, especially near power lines and trees, which could pose hazards. Residents are encouraged to prepare their vehicles with essential winter supplies and to share travel plans with family or friends if they must travel.
