Jennifer Lopez recently opened up about how it feels to be "newly single" amid her divorce from Argo star Ben Affleck.

The "On The Floor" songstress sat down with comedian Nikki Glaser for Interview Magazine on Wednesday (October 9) to discuss life's unexpected twists and turns and the importance of being alone. Speaking on personal improvements that grew from the cracks of relationship troubles and cancelling her summer tour, the 55-year-old icon shared:

"It’s a lifelong process. I think that's what I love about life: that there's no arrival point. There's only getting better and growing if you want to. It's either growing or dying, and I don't want to do the dying part."

She continued:

"And yeah, there’s times when I thought I figured it out, and then life goes, 'Let’s send you another thing and see if you fall for it. Let's see if you really have learned that lesson.' And I hadn't."

Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck on August 20th, exactly two years since their extravagant Georgia wedding ceremony. The pair were so certain on forever that they did not sign a prenup, leading to a series of financial question marks amid their ongoing separation, including the sale of their joint Beverly Hills mansion.

Aside from legalities and attempting to hold onto relationships within their blended family, JLo is just happy to be "free" and on her own now.

"Now I’m excited, when you say you’re just going to be on your own. Yes, I’m not looking for anybody, because everything that I’ve done over the past 25, 30 years, being in these different challenging situations, what can I f****** do when it’s just me flying on my own ... what if I'm just free?"

Affleck has yet to speak out about the divorce as filing proceeds.
