Kanye West Announces He's Running For President In 2020: Celebrities React

Well, he’s done it.

Kanye West officially announced that he will be running for president in the 2020 election.

On Saturday (July 4), the rapper used Independence Day to reveal the (un)surprising news on Twitter. “We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States 🇺🇸!” the 43-year-old tweeted last night with the hashtag “#2020Vision,” which appears to be Ye’s slogan for his presidential campaign. (We’ll admit, it’s pretty catchy.)

Call the “Black Skinhead” emcee crazy if you want, he has his supporters.

Among those who reacted to Ye’s presidential bid include wife Kim Kardashian, Tesla magnate Elon Musk, and plenty of others — whose responses were… interesting, to say the least.

Kim simply shared an American Flag emoji in support of her husband, whereas Musk rooted for the rapper, writing, “You have my full support!”

Others, like Tiffany Haddish and Paris Hilton, took Ye’s announcement in jest.

“We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I too am running for president of the United States 🇺🇸! #2020VISION” wrote Haddish, as Hilton retorted, “PARIS FOR PRESIDENT ✨🇺🇸👸🏼✨”

The “Stronger” musician’s presidential campaign announcement shouldn’t come as a surprise.

As some fans may recall, Ye actually used his appearance at the 2015 iHeartRadio Music Festival to allude to his bid while singing “Only One,” in which he slipped in the lyrics, “You’ll be the man you always knew you could be — 2020.”
