Can Music Really Soothe A Nervous Pet? Maybe So!

Bella

It has been said that “music soothes the savage beast.” Well we don’t consider dogs to be “savage beasts,” but according to Joshua Leeds, music can certainly soothe a nervous pet! Leeds is the president of BioAcoustic Research based in Oregon and has been studying sounds and it’s effects on the nervous system for over 17 years. He has also researched how music vibrations can help calm a nervous, anxious, or stressed dog or cat.

Based upon his research, and research done by Irish researcher Deborah Wells, Leeds has released 17 albums of classical music. Wells was the first researcher to find that anxious dogs responded best to classical music. As a result, Leeds used her study on dogs when he developed the albums.

Leeds' music series are called “Through A Dog’s Ear” and “iCalmPet.” All the music he produces is extraordinary, natural, and organic. When you leave your house, you put the music on to help relax your anxious or stressed out dog. Many dogs suffer from separation anxiety and Leeds believes that helping them through that emotional trauma leads to better lives for both you and your pet! Sound good to me.
