An article on mashable.com reported that after December 1st, Netflix will stop supporting some older Samsung smart TV models. Netflix did not mention what models would no longer be supported, but did tell CNET that "Netflix will no longer be supported on a small number of older devices due to technical limitations." Mashable contacted Samsung for comment but has not gotten a response yet.
Netflix also made note of the fact that it will stop supporting certain older Roku devices after December 1st. There is probably not much customers can do about this. Problems like this occur all the time in electronics as older model equipment are not responsive to newer software. It appears that if you do own on older Samsung or Roku device, and it does end up on the list of equipment no longer supported by Netflix, you may be forced to purchase a new TV or a newer complementary Roku or Apple TV.
Technology moves very fast and older equipment become outdated very quickly. Unfortunately, there is nothing that guarantees that the new device you purchase today won't be outdated in 2 or 3 years from now. I guess its the nature of then beast.
