Oscar Mayer Introduces A Limited Edition "Ice Dog Sandwich!"

Last Friday was National Ice Cream Sandwich Day. Although the recipe dates back to 1894, Jerry Newberg of Pittsburgh claims to be the inventor of the treat in 1945 when he began selling it at Forbes Field in the Steel City.

Anyway, fans of ice cream sandwiches AND hot dogs can expect a treat this week. Oscar Mayer is offering a limited edition Ice Dog Sandwich to celebrate Ice Cream Sandwich Day. Plus it’s also a tongue-in-cheek response to French’s mustard flavor ice cream that it sold on a limited basis to celebrate National Ice Cream Day.

The Ice Dog Sandwich consists of flavored ice cream cream, hot dogs, and spicy mustard surrounded by a cookie bun. Sounds interesting! You will have to visit New York City to get one cause that’s where the Wienermobile will be passing the treat out!
