“An Apple a day keeps the doctor away.” So says the old folk-wisdom of Welsh origin. Well it also appears that the apple business in New York State keeps the state’s economy healthier than previously thought too!
According to a Cornell University study, the apple industry has a greater impact on the state’s economy than previous data suggested. The study provided data that showed that the apple industry produces more than $2 billion dollars in revenue for New York State. In addition, the industry generates over 12,000 jobs for New York State.
New York State is second in the country in the production of apples. Washington state is the leader. So there you have it! Apples are not only good for you they are also good for the state of New York.
