The former Toys 'R' Us building in Clay will be getting a new tenant later this year. The Great Outdoors RV Superstore will be moving in sometime in the spring. That's good news for the Town of Clay city planners who expect a relatively straightforward approval of permits for the new occupants.
Toys 'R' Us store closed permanently last June, 2018 after 30 years in business at the location. Since then, the building has sat vacant. The Great Outdoors RV Superstore recently signed a lease for the building. The RV company also has locations in Auburn, Fulton, and Brewerton.
Officials for the company did not offer much comment on the move other than to say that more details on the store will be forthcoming at a later date. Town of Clay officials were more excited. Mark Territo, Clay Planning Commissioner, said "We are relieved it won’t be an empty building anymore.''
