Dear Santa,

I am not sure how this whole letter thing works – this is only my second Christmas and I was too young to really remember much of last year. I know it wasn’t long after Christmas that I was lost, living out in the world all alone. Food was hard to find and I was scared most of the time. I was found and brought to a shelter in Alabama. They fed me and I put on some weight. I now weigh 45 pounds. There were so many dogs there that I didn’t get out of my kennel much to play. That was my life for months until they told me I was going to Helping Hounds.

I like it here. I get out a lot and I have made many dog and people friends. Sometimes I even go on Crate Escapes where I get to ride in a car and take a long hike somewhere. I love those days. At night, though, when everyone goes home, I am reminded that I am nobody’s dog and I dream of the day when I have a family of my own.

I am a very good girl. I am gentle. My manners are better than most when I am out walking on a leash or meeting new people. I know where to go potty and I don’t mind cats too much. I think kids are wonderful and I passed all my tests to participate in a youth volunteer program before coming north.

I hope you know of a family that would like to bring me home and make me their dog. I promise I will learn how to make them happy and I won’t be too much trouble. I will love them with my whole heart. Please just make sure they are kind and gentle with their hands. If you find one that likes to keep treats in their pockets, that would be my favorite person. Thanks for helping me Santa.

Love, Janie
