Dear Santa,

My name is Didina.  A lady doesn’t like to talk about her age or weight, but it seems like people need to know these things so I will tell you I think I am 2 years old and weigh 52 pounds.  They tell me you are magical and if I tell you what I am wishing for, you can make my dreams come true.

I have never had a real home Santa – the kind where they want you and keep you safe.  They didn’t pay much attention to me so I would wander off from time to time just because I was so bored.   One day there was a truck next door taking some of the dogs people had abandoned and I hopped right in hoping they could take me too, take me away from my lonely life.  They told me I could not because I already had a home and made me get out of the truck.   My human was so angry when I got back.  It was not the first time his hands were not gentle and kind.   Those people in that truck remembered me though and eventually they were able to get my owner to let me go with them.  It was the first time in my life I felt what hope was.   I loved living in my foster home and I hope my forever home is just as warm and safe with people like them who want to play and cuddle with me, but no matter how hard they tried no one seemed to want me as a forever dog.

When Helping Hounds heard about me, they bought me a ticket to take a long trip North where I can play and have some fun while I wait for my new home no matter how long it takes.   I saw some snowflakes today and they weren’t scary at all, but wow was it cold.   I hear you have that stuff in the North Pole.   I like it, so if you can’t find a family for me here maybe I could be one of your elves.

I get along with everyone.  I love people of all ages and I play well with other dogs.  I hope you understand I don’t really like cats all that much so my new home shouldn’t have one living there.

I sure hope you can find someone to take me home and make me their dog.  I have dreamed of that for so very long and I know I would be good at being a best friend.   To be wanted is all I have ever wanted.

Merry Christmas!

Love,

Didina
