Selena Gomez may be going through a lot of drama right now with certain areas of her life, but when it really matters, she isn't shy to mention how much pressure inspires her to be a better person.
She got the opportunity to speak to a huge crowd of young people who were present for a taping of "We Day California" late last week.
Selena covered many areas in her life. How when she was 11, she was told by someone that she'd never be good enough to hold down her own show. How the pressures of everyone telling her to "Be Sexy, Be Cute, etc." inspired her to be more independent. And especially, how her fans inspire her to improve her own life and be herself.
"I am surrounded by people who are supposed to guide me, and some of them have, and others haven't. They pressure me. There's so much pressure. 'You gotta be sexy. You gotta be cute. You gotta be nice. You gotta be all these things,'" she admitted. "I'm sure you can all relate. You all have pressure that you have to deal with every day. I'm sure with school, with work, with friends, with parents, with family — with parents,"
"I listened to opinions of people and I tried to change who I am because I thought that others would accept me for it, and I realized I don't know how to be anything but myself."
Truly an inspiring speech by Selena. You can watch the entire thing below!
