The DOT has closed I-690 East from West Street to the I-81 South on ramp. All traffic is being detoured off I-690 East at Bear Street and Exits 11 & 12. In addition:

The entrance ramps from Geddes Street and northbound West Street to eastbound I-690 are closed, and The Creekwalk is closed.

This will be in place for approximately 13 days, and is going to create massive delays on, but not limited to:

I-690 Eastbound approaching downtown Syracuse from points west;

-Northbound NY 695;

-Southbound I-81 approaching Syracuse from points north;

-Within the I-81/I-690 interchange;

-Eastbound I-690 Exit 8 (Hiawatha Blvd) and in both directions of Hiawatha Blvd;

-Eastbound I-690 Exit 9 (Bear Street) and on northbound Bear Street;

-Eastbound I-690 Exit 11 (West Street) and on both directions of West Street;

-Eastbound I-690 Exit 12 (West Genesee Street);

-West Genesee Street approaching downtown from the west;

-All intersections along the detour routes.

The DOT has a bunch of suggested detours for you to try:

For Eastbound I-690 thru traffic: Eastbound I-690 to Exit 9 (Bear Street). Continue north on Bear Street; right turn onto Genant Street; ramp to southbound I-81; ramp to eastbound I-690.

For Northbound West Street to Eastbound I-690: Ramp to westbound I-690; exit at Geddes Street; right turn at bottom of ramp; left turn onto Pulaski Street; right turn onto Bear Street; right turn onto Genant Drive; ramp to southbound I-81; ramp to eastbound I-690.

For the ramp from Geddes Street to eastbound I-690: Continue north on Geddes Street; left turn onto Pulaski Street; right turn onto Bear Street; right turn onto Genant Drive; ramp to southbound I-81; ramp to eastbound I-690.

For the Creekwalk: North Franklin and Plum Streets.

Best of luck during your travels! It feels so weird to not see traffic on I-690 East driving past our station!

Special thanks to our very own Kathy Denman for providing us with all of this info to share with you!
