A record low temperature was hit at Hancock Airport in Syracuse this morning when the mercury dived to 8 below zero.

All over New York State, record low temperatures were hit as the region endures some of the coldest air we've seen in years. Syracuse beat the previous record of 7 below which was set in 1981.

Many local school district cancelled activities Thursday night because of the expected cold weather and Governor Cuomo shut down a section of the Thruway downstate for hours overnight in anticipation of heavy snow and cold temperatures.

Triple A of Syracuse say their phones were ringing off the hook this morning. many of thier customers had dead batteries and needed a jump start. Other call occurred on Thursday during our snowstorm with many drivers going off the road. AAA says it had double the amount of phone calls they normally get in a two day period.
