SYRACUSE, NY– Symphoria, the Central New York symphony orchestra formed in 2012 by world-class musicians from the former Syracuse Symphony Orchestra, will announce its 2013–14 season on May 15 at 11am in the lobby of the CivicCenter. In addition to a full season of works by the masters, Symphoria will offer some surprises to both challenge and delight its audiences. Included among the announcements will be a Pops Series featuring a beloved maestro familiar to many, some special guests and a few unexpected locations.
“We feel it’s important to celebrate the music and the community in which we perform,” said Jon Garland, Symphoria musician and board member. “This announcement will confirm our intention to honor Central New York’s outstanding tradition of symphonic music as well as bring a new vision and a bit of ‘wow’ to our music selections and venues.”
Symphoria is the orchestra of Musical Associates of Central New York (MACNY), a not-for-profit organization made up of nearly 50 members of the former Syracuse Symphony Orchestra which, during its operation, was considered to be one of America’s top 50 orchestras. Symphoria performs at the Crouse Hinds Theatre in the John H. Mulroy Civic Center, 800 South State Street, Syracyse, New York, and other venues throughout the region.
