Supreme Court Rejects Onondaga Nation Land Appeal
Posted Wednesday, October 16th 2013 @ 5am  by Jim Donovan

The US Supreme Court has rejected an appeal in an 8-year-old Onondaga Nation land claim.

The nation filed its land claim in federal district court in 2005, alleging New York illegally obtained about 4,000 square miles of land in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, encompassing much of Central New York. The court initially rejected the claim at the time, saying the nation had waited too long to file. Nation officials say they will now pursue their claim in international venues, like the UN or Organization of American States.
