The New York State Humane Association is offering a one thousand dollar reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for abandoning and handicapped and pregnant dog in Cortlandville on June 29th.
The reddish-colored Kelpie mix was found on the lawn of a home whose owner immediately contacted authorities.
According to the Cortland County SPCA, the dog was rushed to the Cornell University Veterinary College for examination and treatment. Unfortunately, nothing could be done to correct the dog's deformity.
The dog has been named "Little Lady", and she is unable to walk on hard surfaces like sidewalks which would cause her pain and now a special home has to be found for her.
Anyone with information on who abandoned the dog is being asked to contact the Cortland Community's Humane Enforcement Department at 607-753- 9386.
