Albany, N.Y. — A hospital nurse has been sentenced to four to 12 years in state prison for an identity theft scheme using patient information.

Suzette Guzman-Moore was sentenced Tuesday by Albany County Judge Stephen Herrick. Her boyfriend, Emmett Woods, was sentenced Monday to 7 ½ to 15 years for his role in the scheme.

Guzman-Moore had been working at Albany Medical Center. Authorities say the pair used patient information to set up credit card accounts, used the credit cards to buy gift cards, and converted the gift cards to cash.

Investigators found lists with information from more than 100 patients. The couple used information from about 60 to apply for credit cards.

The couple was ordered to pay $2,000 in restitution to cover the credit card company losses.
