North Syracuse Budget
A planned vote to eliminate funding for over a dozen clubs in the North Syracuse School District was tabled after protests from parents.
The district's 2013-2014 budget requires a 16 percent cut in co-curricular activities, but the programs affected were not announced until last week. Monday's board meeting was attended by the CNS Drumline and Cadet Winterguard, one of the groups to be affected. The group stood in support of speakers who urged the board not to eliminate their funding. When it came time for a vote, no board member would even second the motion. The board tabled action until their next meeting on September 9.
