One week after a big announcement that feature films will be produced in Central New York, the film house moving to headquarters in DeWitt has announced plans for their first movie to be filmed entirely in Central New York.
The Film House says they're now scouting locations to shoot "The Opium War". The project will create at least 500 jobs and contribute 10 million dollars in local investments.
There will be a seven to eight week filming schedule beginning at the end of the summer. It will be followed with six to seven months of post production, which will take place at a new production studio that's planned for the DeWitt area.
The studio says once they've scouted locations and plans are in place, they may have the need for plenty of locals to be hired for extras in the film.
"The Opium War" will star Gina Carano who most recently had roles in films like "the Fast and the Furious," and "Haywire."
