A state appeals court has ruled that Syracuse mayoral candidate Ian Hunter did not have enough valid signatures to run as a Republican.

Onondaga County Republican chairman Tom Dadey had challenged Hunter's petitions earlier this year and had him thrown off the ballot. The appeals court upheld the ruling made in August by a Supreme Court judge that said Hunter was two valid signatures shy. Hunter will remain on the Conservative Party line, and says he's thinking about taking his case to the state's highest court.
