Marcellus School Board member Julie Brissette has resigned her position, saying she couldn't spend valuable time representing a community that puts private agendas ahead of children.

Brissette's letter of resignation Thursday, designed to give voters the opportunity to choose her replacement, created some havoc. Publication of the annual budget and election newsletter had to be halted, and a hastily-called board meeting for Sunday evening had to be scrapped after a majority of members didn't show up. The board did manage to place four board positions on the election ballot - three for three-year terms, and one for the remainder of Brisette's term which ends June 14.
