Swimming season begins June 30 at Syracuse city parks, and they are in serious need of lifeguards.

Parks commissioner Baye Muhammad says they need 53 additional lifeguards to work in one of the eight city pools.  Muhammad says lifeguards need to be certified, and will be paid $9.50 an hour.  They will work the eight week season, and need to be available weekdays and weekends from noon to 7:30pm.  He says lifeguards will be expected to work 36 hours a week.

Those interested in applying should contact the Parks Department at 473-4330 and speak with the Aquatics Division staff.
