Auburn police have identified two police officers who were involved in a weekend shooting that took the life of a man who tried to attack them.

46 year old Jeffrey Harris was gunned down by an Auburn police officer over the weekend after cops say he tried to attack two officers with a meat cleaver during a domestic dispute.

It's now been revealed that officer Donald Laraway, a ten year veteran of the force, shot Harris four times. Officer Jared Georgi was also present during the shooting.

Laraway and Georgi tired to subdue Harris with a taser first before pulling the trigger. Auburn's police chief says Laraway was justified in firing at the supect, but the case will be presented to a Cayuga County Grand Jury.

The incident occured on Barber Street in Auburn when Harris is accused of breaking into a duplex there.
