Onondaga County sheriff's deputies say a Fulton woman crashed into a horse standing in the road in Lysander.

The driver, Sonya O'Hara, told deputies she was going south on Oswego Road, also known as Route 48, when she encountered the horse. She says she tried to swerve her car to avoid the deer, but was unsuccessful. The horse died as a result of the collision. O'Hara was taken to Upstate University Hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.
