At an emotionally-charged meeting Thursday, Elbridge town councilors voted unanimously to end their 82-year relationship with the Elbridge Fire Department.

The vote, to approve fire protection contracts with Mottville and Jordan Fire Departments, was met with anger by Elbridge fire personnel. They say the town acted illegally and will go to court to try and stop the town. They also claim response times will increase, putting property and lives in danger. Town council members say doubts about the Elbridge department's leadership factored into their decision.
