A stunning development today in the death of a 12 year old St. Lawrence County Boy nearly three years ago.
The mens soccer coach at Clarkson University in town has now been arrested for the boys murder.
Coach Oral "Nick" Hillary was indicted by a grand jury Thursday on Second Degree Murder charges and the DA says there's enough evidence to warrant further prosecution.
12 year old Garrett Phillips was found murdered inside a Potsdam apartment he shared with his mother in October of 2011. The child had been strangled and smothered with a pillow. Hillary was reportedly haveing a relationship with the boys mother at the time, but no motive in the case has been revealed.
Hillary was arraigned in Potsdam Village Court and is being held without bail on second degree murder charges.
At least two dozen people testified before a grand jury in the case. Hillary was initially questioned in the case after the boy's murder as a person of interest but was never charged in the case until today.
