A 5-year-old girl escaped serious injuries when she was hit by a car in the front of a Salina convenience store.

Authorities say the girl was standing outside the Hess convenience store at 7th North and Electronics Parkway.hit when Joseph Puma of Syracuse apparently hit the gas instead of the brake in the parking lot. His car jumped the sidewalk and hit the girl before going through the front of the store. The girl was pinned between the car and some shelving until she was freed by rescue workers.  She was taken to University Hospital with minor injuries.  As of yet, no charges have been filed.
